According to Safri, the status of handling the investigation into the case of alleged extortion in office against Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) has risen to the level of investigation.
Former Syahrul Yasin Limpo was allegedly blackmailed by KPK Chairman Komjen Pol (Purn) Firli Bahuri in connection with the handling of alleged corruption cases at the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan).
Safri said that before it was finally escalated to investigation, his party had already conducted a case on Friday, October 6 2023.
“On Friday, October 6 2023, a case was held for the purposes of increasing the status of the investigation to the investigation stage regarding alleged criminal acts of corruption in the form of extortion or receiving gratuities or receiving gifts or promises by civil servants or state administrators related to the handling of legal issues at the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture during the period from 2020 to 2023,” said Ade Safri at Polda Metro Jaya, Saturday (7/10/2023).
Safri revealed that his party used Article 12 letter e or Article 12 letter B, or Article 11 of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning the eradication of criminal acts of corruption in conjunction with Article 65 of the Criminal Code.
By upgrading the status of case handling to investigation, the party will immediately issue an investigation warrant to collect further evidence related to this case.
“Next, an investigative sprint will be issued to carry out a series of investigative actions according to the method regulated by law to search for and collect evidence which will shed light on the criminal act that occurred and find the suspect,” said Ade.
Previously, Syahrul Yasin Limpo had been questioned three times as a witness in cases of alleged extortion committed by the leadership of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in handling cases at the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) in 2021.

He said that the inspection of the Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo for the third time took place on Thursday (5/10/2023) afternoon.
“He has been asked for information for clarification three times and today is the third time he has been asked for information or clarification regarding the alleged criminal act that occurred and was reported,” said Ade at Polda Metro Jaya, Thursday (5/10/2023) Evening.
As is known, the case of alleged extortion by the KPK leadership emerged after Sub-Directorate V Tipidkor of the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya received a complaint from the public or Dumas on August 12 2023.
Ade explained that his party then issued an investigation warrant on August 21 2023 to find criminal elements in the reported incident. Several witnesses were questioned from 24 August 2023 to 5 October 2023.
In total, 6 people have been asked for information or clarification by the investigating team of Sub-Directorate V Tipidkor, Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation, Polda Metro Jaya. One of them is the Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo.
“The investigative team has started inviting clarifications to 6 people so far from whom we have asked for information and clarification, one of whom is the Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo.
