The Prophet’s birthday was terrorized by a suicide bombing, 52 people died

Warta9.com – A heartbreaking incident happened to several Muslims who were celebrating the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad SWT in Pakistan. The powerful suicide bomb exploded near a mosque in Mastung District, Baluchistan Province, Pakistan, during the celebration of the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday, Friday (29/9/2023).

As a result of this incident, it was reported that at least 52 people were killed and around 70 others were injured in the incident.

Reporting from The Guardian, Saturday (30/09/2023), Deputy Inspector General of Police Munir Ahmed said the bomber blew himself up near the vehicle of one of the police officers.

Based on the facts of events so far, according to Baluchistan, it has witnessed a number of attacks by rebels and militant groups, but these attacks usually target security forces.

The Pakistani Taliban have repeatedly confirmed that they do not target places of worship and civilians.

Meanwhile, local government official Atta Ullah said that a number of injured victims were in critical condition. He added that a senior police officer, Mohammad Nawaz, was among the dead.

The AP report said Friday’s bombing came days after authorities asked police to be on maximum alert, saying militants could target crowds celebrating the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday.

A strong statement from Pakistani President Arif Alvi condemned the suicide bomb attack and asked the authorities to provide all possible assistance to the injured and their families.

Caretaker Home Minister Sarfraz Bugti also condemned the bombings and expressed his condolences over the loss of lives. He said the action targeting people at the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday procession was a heinous act.

The Pakistani government has declared a national holiday to commemorate the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad and President Alvi and interim Prime Minister Anwaarul-haq-Kakar in separate messages called for unity and for society to adhere to the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad SWT.

No party has yet claimed responsibility for this suicide bombing.

Also today, an explosion hit a mosque located on the premises of a police station in Hangu District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province. Local police officer Shah Raz Khan confirmed that seven people were injured.

He said the mud-brick mosque collapsed due to the impact of the explosion and rescue teams were moving rubble to get worshipers out of the rubble.

So far no one has claimed responsibility and it is not clear what caused the explosion when around 40 people were praying at the mosque. Most of the congregation are police officers. (**)
