Umar Ahmad Calls for Lampung Becomes the Republic of Indonesia Capital

The Regent of Tulangbawang Barat, Lampung, Indonesia, Umar Ahmad while chatting with the DKI Lampung Volunteer Team, at the Bandarlampung Governor’s Office on Thursday (20/06).

THE GOVERNMENT decided to move the capital city from Jakarta to other areas outside Java. The transfer was not only because it wanted to reduce Jakarta’s burden or as an effort to distribute development, but also there were historical reasons.

Related to this, the Regent of West Tulangbawang Barat, Lampung, Indonesia, Umar Ahmad said, the historical aspect was indeed one of the reasons the government wanted to move the capital city from Jakarta to another place.

“If I see the urgency of several aspects, firstly the historical aspect that Jakarta is the capital because we are indeed continuing the capital city of the Dutch colonial government,” he said when talking specifically with the DKI Lampung Volunteer Team, at the Bandarlampung Governor’s Office on Thursday.

Umar Ahmad invites united Balinese and National figures and communities to realize Capital City in Lampung at Sumatra Island. The Regent explained historically the transfer of the Republic of Indonesia (IKN) from time to time. According to him Batavia since Governor General Herman WD arrived in 1808 will be moved to Surabaya by starting the construction of the Pantura road.

Then after the Indonesian President Ir. Sukarno moved the national capital to Yogyakarta in 1946, President Sukarno from 1948-1949 planned to definitively transfer the Indonesian IKN to the Wangi building forest on Lampung on the island of Sumatra which was later given the name Sribawono.

Meaning Serba ono/exist (now located in East Lampung Regency). So that the fragrant building forest was prepared to become the location for the transfer of the New Indonesian IKN by opening fragrant building forests by making it the second destination of Transmigration in 1952 (the first transmigration destination to Gedong Tataan forest on 12/12/1950), this history is archived in the RRI museum .

Then in 1957 the Indonesian president Ir. Sukarno also prepared Palangkaraya in Central Kalimantan for the location of the transfer of the Indonesian IKN. In the era of President Suharto in 1994 also planning the transfer of the Indonesian IKN, Lampung emerged as an alternative to transferring the Indonesian IKN, but Suharto surveyed Land to Sentul to Jonggol.

Then in 2010 President SBY also planned to move the Indonesian IKN out of Java, but it had not yet materialized. Until in the era of President Jokowi in 2016, the Republic of Indonesia Government Central Government IKN was resettled, and by the end of 2018 the Indonesian Ministry of PPN / Bappenas studied it.

On 29 April 2019 Indonesian President Jokowi led the Cabinet Ratas which issued a STATE STRATEGIC DECISION concerning the transfer of the IKN Center for Government and Public Services of the Republic of Indonesia Exiting the island of Java with a choice of location to the island; Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Sumatra (Indonesian President Jokowi affirms Eastern Sumatra).

Seeing this historically means that Lampung on the island of Sumatra has also been calculated by Indonesian President Sukarno to be the location for the transfer of the Capital of the Republic of Indonesia outside Java as the center of the Indonesian government, earlier than Palangkaraya on the island of Borneo.

Secretary of the Jakarta Lampung Volunteer TIM Ary meizary also explained, historically what the Tubaba Regent said was also explained by Deputy Chairman of the PWI Lampung, Nizwar, regarding President Sukarno’s plan to transfer the Indonesian IKN to Lampung.

“After three hours of discussion Pak Umar Ahmad gave his appreciation and support to the DKI Lampung Volunteer Team by signing the DKI Lampung Petition,” he said.

Present at the discussion; Ary Meizary, SE., M.Ba, Dedy Rokhman, SE, dr. Really Reagen, Mico Periyando and Ahmad Muslimin.

“Regent Umar Ahmad also called for all Indonesian children to work together to realize Smart, Beutyfull and green capital city in Lampung at Sumatra island,” he said.
